comic nineteen - nevermind rapture, here's wanglowski, part six

Before I start this blog entry thing, I'd like to say that I am proud to report that Wish Fulfillment volume 1 is finally available in my store! Hurray! You can purchase it by going here: http://stores.lulu.com/wish_fulfillment

Also, I finally got off of my bum and edited the Character page. I've placed some of the newer characters there along with some pictures. I love the holidays, because I always seem to actually be able to get stuff done!

Anyway... this should be a Christmas themed entry, but I cannot think of anything Christmas themed to write about. Instead, I’m going to talk about Bob and Jasper. Who are Bob and Jasper? Well, you might know them simply as those two little thingies that appear on the side of the comic sometimes. And if you were friends with me in high school, you may know them as the “Two Thingies on my Ceiling”.

Right. So here’s the story. My friend Amanda stayed over my house one night and we were hanging out in my room. She looked up at the ceiling and said “Hey! There are two thingies on your ceiling”, referring to a lamp and a wind chime. We both thought this was quite funny, and she even wrote a song about it the following day. After this, I sketched out what the two thingies would look like from the lyrics of the song she wrote. “Those thingies over there, they have no eyes or hair, I’d hate to be like those thingies, but they don’t seem to care” … :P Yes, that was one of the lines. Don’t laugh, we were in 10th grade, okay!?

I love Bob and Jasper because they are a brilliant plot device. If I need something said, but don’t necessarily want one of my characters to say it, those guys are there to move the plot along or to say something funny. Another interesting fact is that one is supposed to be dark pink and one is supposed to be light pink. I ALWAYS forget which one is the dark one and which one is the light one, so I always color them wrong. Bob is the one with the tongue sticking out ,and Jasper is the one with the bucked teeth. I remember that much.

And there you have it. Another random fact about a comic that no one reads. :P
In all seriousness, I want to thank everyone who does read this comic. It really means a lot to me that people read this. It means that all this work is for something! Everyone have a wonderful and happy holiday, whatever you celebrate, and I will see you all next year! ^_^
